Why I Became an Acupuncturist ?

"Sometimes the experience that changes your life becomes the purpose of your life."

There was a time when I never imagined becoming an acupuncturist.

My first career was in fashion design. I loved the creativity, the beauty, and the excitement of bringing ideas to life. Every
collection told a story, and every design reflected passion and hard work.

But behind the glamour were endless deadlines, sleepless nights, and constant pressure.

Like many young professionals, I believed stress was simply part of success.

Until one day, my body said otherwise.
The Day Everything Changed
Picture
In my early twenties, I experienced a severe panic attack.

My heart raced uncontrollably.

I couldn't catch my breath.

My hands trembled, and I felt an overwhelming sense of fear.

I honestly thought something was terribly wrong with me.

At the time, I had no idea that chronic stress could affect both the mind and body so profoundly.
Fortunately, my aunt—a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner—was there to help.

She suggested acupuncture.

Although I grew up in a family of Chinese medicine doctors, I had never truly experienced acupuncture as a patient. I agreed, hoping it might help.

Within minutes of the treatment, something remarkable happened.

My breathing became calmer.

The tightness in my chest eased.

My body began to relax.

The overwhelming panic that had consumed me slowly melted away.

That single treatment changed more than how I felt.

It changed the direction of my life.
A New Beginning
Picture
For the first time, I understood that acupuncture was far more than an ancient healing tradition.

I experienced its power firsthand.

It wasn't just treating symptoms.

It was restoring balance.

Helping the body do what it was designed to do—heal.

In that moment, I realized I wanted to spend my life helping others experience the same hope that had been given to me.

So I made one of the biggest decisions of my life.

I left the fashion industry and began my journey into Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Carrying Forward a Family Legacy

As a third-generation Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by generations of healing knowledge.

What had once been my family's profession became my personal calling.

Today, I am a National Board-Certified Acupuncturist and a licensed acupuncturist in both New York and New Jersey.
Over the years, I have continued to advance my training in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, women's health, fertility support, pain management, scalp acupunctures, auricular acupuncture, trigger point therapy, Tui Na, Medical Qi Gong, Chinese nutrition, and other integrative therapies.

I believe that combining traditional wisdom with modern, evidence-informed medicine allows us to provide the best care for today's patients.
Every Patient Has a Story
Picture
One lesson I learned from my own experience is that every symptom has a story behind it.

Pain.

Anxiety.

Insomnia.

Infertility.

Digestive disorders.

Migraines.

Chronic fatigue.

These are not simply conditions to be managed—they are signals that the body is asking for help.

That's why I spend time listening.

Every new patient begins with a comprehensive consultation because I believe healing starts with understanding.

Rather than treating only the symptoms, my goal is to identify the underlying imbalance while helping patients feel better as quickly as possible.

No two people are the same.

Every treatment plan is personalized.
The Greatest Privilege
Picture

One of the greatest privileges of my work is witnessing transformation.

I've seen patients walk into my clinic discouraged after trying everything else and leave with renewed hope.

I've celebrated positive pregnancy tests with couples who had almost given up.

I've watched patients return to activities they thought they would never enjoy again because their pain no longer controlled their lives.

Those moments remind me why I chose this profession.

Healing isn't just about relieving pain.

It's about restoring confidence.

Creating hope.

Helping people live the life they were meant to live.
Beyond the Clinic
Picture
When I'm not treating patients, you'll usually find me spending time with my husband, Ni-Fei, and our son, Jordan.

I still love creativity—whether it's designing dresses, making pottery on the wheel, cooking, practicing the Chinese tea ceremony, visiting museums, or discovering new restaurants with my family.

Those experiences keep me grounded and remind me that health is ultimately about enjoying life's simple moments.

"The day acupuncture changed my life, I discovered my purpose.
Today, my purpose is helping you discover yours."
